The Book Engine
Data deletion policy
Last updated September 2026
This page describes exactly when your files are removed from our systems. It exists because handing over a manuscript is an act of trust, and "we delete it eventually" is not a policy.
What gets deleted, and when
- Your manuscript file and its extracted text — deleted within 30 days of delivery of your package.
- Working files (the chunked copies of your text the engine reads during production) — deleted on the same schedule.
- Your atom database, voice profile, and generated content library — these are your deliverables and belong to you. They remain available through your private delivery link so you can re-download them; you can ask for them to be removed at any time.
- Your order record (name, email, status, delivery history) — retained where required for tax and accounting.
Deleting sooner
Email kate.b.marshall@gmail.com from your order address and ask. Manuscript deletion requests are honoured promptly — you do not need to give a reason.
What deletion covers
Deletion removes your manuscript from our production systems: the application database, working storage, and processing caches. Copies in your own Google Drive folder are yours and under your control. Backups age out on the infrastructure provider's standard schedule.
